In marketing, the point of sale (POS) refers to the place or virtual space where customers can discover, try and buy products.
In stationary retail, this includes physical shops where companies use advertising materials such as posters, brochures and product samples or digital advertising space, including digital signage, to motivate customers to buy. POS also includes points of sale such as shops, branches or pop-up stores (temporary sales areas), showrooms and experience worlds as well as promotional stands at locations outside the POS where products and services are sold.
In online marketing, point of sale refers to online shops where companies use banner adverts and product videos to generate interest.
