SaaS
= Software-as-a-Service. Service in which application software is usually operated by the provider in external data centers and used via web access. The software is maintained and managed by the provider so that customers can benefit from regular further development.
Licensing model
As a rule, the Saas model is associated with a monthly rental license fee or usage-related costs. There are also combination models.
Related Terms
SaaS is a part of cloud computing. Web-to-print and web-to-publish systems usually combine SaaS solutions with rental licenses. An equivalent term is ASP (Application Service Providing).
In contrast to SaaS, on-premise software is operated in the company's own data centers.
