Composite file
Contains information about colour separations for printing in a single file. Separation (splitting) into the individual colour separations has not yet taken place.
Use cases
In a PDF workflow, the delivery of composite PDF files is usually preferred. The composite file is separated for later output of colour separations on platesetters or in printing units. For the output in the CMYK colour space at least four separations are created plus spot colours.
