MAM
= Media Asset Management. Management of media objects, such as texts, images, video and audiofiles or documents, for which a specialised database system is used, the media asset management system.
Functions
Special functions provide for the administration, maintenance, retrievability, rights-controlled access and media-specific adaptation of media objects when used in different media channels.
On the one hand, solutions for media asset management are used standalone for central access to media information. On the other hand, MAM systems are integrated into marketing and publishing solutions via interfaces or are internal components of these systems. At database level, interfaces to Product Information Management (PIM) systems create the link from media objects to the corresponding product data.
