Applet

The term applet is a combination of application and snippet. Applets are smaller programs that are executed in the Browser and cannot be actively started by the user.

Programming languages and applications

Applets are programmed in the programming language Java or ActiveX. Examples of Java applets are animations on web pages or database queries.
