Hard bounce
The term hard bounce describes an important key figure within e-mail marketing and provides information about how many e-mails have not reached the recipient due to an invalid e-mail address. The partial term bounce refers to the general undeliverability of an e-mail.
Classification
Hard bounces therefore include all those e-mail addresses that do not exist or are misspelled and have therefore been permanently rejected by the e-mail server. Especially when sending a newsletter the number of hard bounces plays an important role. A high rate of hard bounces can indicate a necessary optimisation of the distribution list.
Distinction
Within email marketing, the term hard bounce refers to the term bounce rate. A distinction is made between hard bounces and soft bounces.
