Messenger
Also known as instant messenger. A messenger is software for communication and message exchange between two or more participants. Text, video or audio content is transmitted. Example: WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Google Hangouts, Snapchat, Skype.
Messengers can be used for mobile marketing.
Function
The messages are transmitted via a client server model. Text messages or files such as pictures or videos are sent online to the respective recipient via a server. The recipient then has the option of answering immediately.
Characteristics
Characteristic for most messengers is the status display of the communication partner, which shows whether he is in offline, online or standby mode. In particular social networks, such as Facebook, have already integrated their own instant messenger.
